About Us
The Uintah Arts Council was incorporated in 1978 as a private 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation for the purpose of promoting, encouraging and stimulating the arts in the Uintah Basin area of northeastern Utah. We currently operate as a council with eleven voting board members and committee chairs for various activities. The Board Chairman oversees board activities and meetings and the President acts as executive officer handling all day-to-day business of the council. All board positions are voluntary. We normally hold monthly board meetings, of which one per year (usually in the fall) is deemed an Annual Meeting to which all members are invited specifically to attend and cast a vote for officers, which are nominated by the currently seated board members. The current Board of Directors consists of:
Chairman-
President- Ron Litton
LaRue Abplanalp
Brian Gorum
Chris Smith
Evelyn Grammer
Pam Merrill
Charyl Siddoway
Anita Calder
Melinda Palmer
Dabra Anderson
Russell Pearson
Other Arts Council officers are:
Secretary- Jo Ellen Litton
Historian- Ruth Abplanalp |
| Funding Requests: The Uintah Arts Council receives a portion of it's annual funding through local government entities. If an independent arts organization would like to request some funding through the Uintah Arts Council, such request must be submitted in writing to the Uintah Arts Council's President by October 1 for funding in the following calendar year. If approved by the Uintah Arts Council's Board of Directors, the Arts Council will then include the independent organizations request, or a portion of the request as deemed feasable by the Board of Directors, with its own request for government funding. The Arts Council has not received all it has requested in many instances in the past and assumes no obligation or guarantee of funds to an independent requester. The Uintah Arts Council is a not-for-profit corporation and all of its Directors and Officers volunteer their time with no pay for their donated efforts. Fund-raising efforts through arts activities such as concerts and plays have not done particularly well for the Arts Council in the past and organizations are advised that, while the cause is usually commendable, the costs of producing an event are usually greater than the income. |
